Grooming is our largest annual expense, funded through membership dues, donations, and public grants administered by the Montana Snowmobile Association. FSA operates two groomers on Big Mountain and coordinates contracted grooming on Crane Mountain and Desert Mountain. Each year, we also mark trails with over 100 safety signs, markers, and route indicators — making navigation simple and safe for all riders. Beyond trail work, we bring snowmobilers together through club rides, volunteer workdays, community events, and seasonal gatherings. From youth safety programs to avalanche awareness training, we’re here to preserve access, improve safety, and keep the Flathead Valley a premier destination for winter adventure. |
On the Canyon Creek Trail (Big Mountain), FSA and the U.S. Forest Service built and maintain a survival cabin and restroom. Stocked each summer with firewood by volunteers, the cabin offers riders a warm place to rest, enjoy lunch, and connect with fellow snowmobilers. Each year, we also host a cookout at the cabin, complete with a mobile grill and great food — a tradition that celebrates both our trails and our community. |
Safety and stewardship are at the heart of our work. FSA partners with Flathead County, North Valley Search & Rescue, Friends of the Flathead Avalanche Center, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC). Together, we provide training, promote environmental stewardship, and ensure riders have the support and resources needed for safe winter recreation.
